From Standard to submission — improve, evidence, and get reviewed.
How Accreditation Works
Eco Mosque Accreditation gives you a clear pathway to improve governance, reduce energy and water waste, and evidence your progress. You work through the Standard, implement practical actions, collect simple proof as you go, and submit for review and feedback.
- Review the Eco Mosque Standard and choose your priority actions across governance, energy, water, waste, and community.
- Appoint a Green Team, agree responsibilities, and set basic baselines using bills, meter readings, and quick site checks.
- Implement improvements in phases and keep evidence like photos, invoices, meeting notes, and maintenance logs.
- Submit your evidence pack for assessment and receive feedback, actions to close gaps, and guidance for the next tier.
If you can appoint a team and track basics, you can start.
Is My Mosque Ready?
If your mosque can organise a small team, agree a simple policy, and begin tracking a few basics, you are ready to start. Bronze is designed to be achievable for mosques of all sizes and helps you build momentum without needing major works.
- Appoint 2–5 people as a Green Team and set a short monthly check-in for progress and decisions.
- Approve a basic environmental policy and add a standing “Eco” agenda item to committee meetings.
- Record your starting position: energy bills, water bills, waste arrangements, and a quick walk-through of key areas.
- Choose a small set of quick wins you can deliver in 30–60 days, then expand from there.
Know what to collect so your submission is clear and complete.

- Proof of delivery: dated photos, signage, staff briefings, supplier confirmations, and volunteer activity logs.
- Technical records: utility bills, meter readings, maintenance/service reports, and baseline measurements.
- Spending and upgrades: invoices, quotes, receipts, warranties, and project notes showing what changed and when.
Progress in stages — foundations, delivery, then leadership.

- Bronze: governance basics, baselines, clear actions, and early wins like policy, recycling, and operational improvements.
- Silver: full-site implementation, stronger monitoring, higher performance targets, and consistent delivery across key areas.
- Gold: major impact measures such as renewables and advanced water efficiency, backed by a published Net Zero pathway.
- Leadership: show community influence through outreach, sharing learning, and supporting other mosques to progress.
