Going Green- How Mosques can improve Environmental Responsibility

The UK Charity Commission has issued a research report on charities responses to environmental concerns. Many Mosques operate as charities, so this report is relevant and contains useful ideas which mosques can adopt, incorporate, and promote further.

The detailed report highlights how some charities are recognising the need to become greener, for example by:

  • developing a written statement that covers environmental issues
  • carrying out environmental audits
  • incorporating environmental statements in the Trustees’ Annual Report

All charities and mosques can make an environmental difference through their activities, and this could result in big cost savings for them while also being beneficial to the environment.
